I discovered a great feature, although it caught me by suprise. When deleting a parent category, all child categories were also deleted. Now this is actually what I was attepmting to do in the long term, but if there are multiple people administrating articles and categories, then the potential for error increases greatly.

I would be great if when deleting a parent category, the child categories become parents themselves, allowing me to reassign them to others. Even better would be to checkbox a parent, and multi-select any or all child categories.

Also - some sort of warning when deleting an ID that is a parent category would be awesome, since deletion in publish is handeled by ID only. If I typo and delete a parent category, and all of it's children categories while attempting to simply delete an article, well this would cause some logistical issues among our employees.
