Engage Publish: Windows Live Writer support

Hi

I've been trying to find more information about Windows Live Writer support but there doesn't seem to be any documentation available on that. I am presuming I can see something on the meta API before I purchase the product

Re: Engage Publish: Windows Live Writer support

We don't currently have Windows Live Writer support, we are adding it into a future release, most likely in the next two months.

I am really looking forward to seeing this feature...

I have been using it a little bit using ZLDNN Article as well as my WordPress blog.

It really does make life easier if you're writing content with images...no more uploading!!!

Re: Engage Publish: Windows Live Writer support

I've already started working on the code, though it is not complete, or even functional at this point :)

I imagine, if I get some more time with it, that we might have some WLW support in the next major release.

As for the image uploads, that is a whole other beast, I hope to have that included as well, but that may be a phase two feature for our WLW support.

Did you check out the metaPost provider?  That looks like an easy/fast way to add LiveWriter support...

In other words, don't re-invent the wheel if you don't have to...

Re: Engage Publish: Windows Live Writer support

I have to agree.  After one day of testing Windows Live Writer I am completely hooked and convinced that is a missing link in our entire article management.  The limitation is that we currently have about 100 categories and over 4000 articles we're trying to manage so I'm not sure how scalable this solution can be unless it involves some sort of filtering on what's refreshed to the client.

Metapost seems like a logical middle layer and they've alread been very responsive on the "how do I get new providers" question.

WLW is one of the key remaining features i think would really enhance Engage-Publish (the others 1) being new article subscriptions/notifications and 2) templates).  As for WLW, I would be satisfied if it [initially at least] only supported posting of new articles, as that's where most of the overhead in publishing articles is alleviated by WLW (i.e. saving images, etc.).  And, I'm guessing that since the metaPost provider has already tackled a number of the backend interfaces, they have a good handle on the performance issues, etc.
