Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration

Provide a way to update the article to point to an existing forum thread.

Re: Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration

I have a slightly different view/request.  I'd like to be able to link to a forum based on a category or tag.  What we're working toward is a screen that will give our visitors a list of related articles and a list of related forums to the tag or category.  Same with the article view...there would be a list of related forums.  So, I think to a forum should be at a little more generic level than by a specific article.

Re: Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration

My original idea was that if I write an article in response to a Forum question, I want to link the article back to the original forum question.   The data structures are already there, I just want to be able to update an existing (unfilled) field.

Your idea (which I really like because it continues to blur the line between the two products in the process of enabling more collaboration) might be harder (and riskier) to implement.  I'm expecting that the next ActiveModules release will significantly alter its own data model.  In other words, I wouldn't want Engage to put a lot of work into a new feature, and then have ActiveForums come out with their next release and break that new feature.  Just a thought...I'll let Chris make his own decisions, of course!

Re: Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration

We will definitely take both of these requests into consideration.

Keep up the great ideas!

Hmmm, I was lead to believe this was already a feature of Engage Publish. Read here

We like what Engage Publish has to offer this so far but we really are looking for the same thing jhenry states.

We want to publish articles and have comments tied to ActiveForums.

Nice work Chris!

Re: Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration

Joe Craig sent an email over to support@engagemodules.com in response to this post and I wanted to make sure it was posted.

Thanks Joe.

Chris,

any progress on this:

I want to link the article back to the original forum question.

Re: Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration Irmprovements

No progress so far, we've got a whole slate of other items we're working on for the 5.2 release, this wasn't included in that list for now.

We will be overhauling our support options as well after the 5.2 release, providing users access to a bug tracker to submit buts and feature requests, so we can better manage requests such as this for future releases.

Re: Feature Requests: ActiveForum Integration Irmprovements

Can you tell me where/how to do it manually via tables/SQL?
